Here Chwast promotes an exhibition at the Museum of the Borough of Brooklyn about the Brooklyn Dodgers, the baseball team founded there in 1883; when the Dodgers left for Los Angeles in 1958, becoming the Los Angeles Dodgers, many Brooklynites felt betrayed, heartbroken or both. Chwast taps into the borough’s nostalgia for the team with an illustration of a faceless baseball player in a simplified version of the uniform introduced in 1938 (including striped socks). A twisting yellow line suggesting the trajectory of the ball provides an eccentric touch.
