This feminist head-shop poster is based on a photograph that cheekily subverts the sexist dress codes of the 1970s. The phrase “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service” had actually been introduced in the 1960s in an effort to circumscribe the relaxed habits of members of the counterculture movement whose values are so nakedly represented here. It was published and distributed by AA Sales in Seattle, Washington, known for its psychedelic and blacklight hippie posters during the late 1960s and ’70s.
