Chwast and Glaser designed two related posters for an exhibition of the work of Push Pin Studios at the Tokyu Department Store in Tokyo, Japan, in 1984. The store opened two years earlier and closed in 2020. When combined, the two posters formed a repeating design of the two men drawing each other. Chwast identified this poster as an homage to Shigeo Fukuda, a pioneering Japanese graphic designer best known for his illusionistic compositions.
