Milton Glaser originally drew this image of Cleopatra for an album cover but repurposed it into this advertisement for The Blue Shadow Gallery, located on a boat in the Seine. The gallery was on a converted barge owned by Glaser’s friends, the Belgian artist Jean-Michel Folon and his wife Paola Ghiringhelli. Glaser’s appropriately shadowy image of Cleopatra combines Symbolist-style mysticism with a 1970s hippie sensibility.
