This is one of two posters designed by Glaser featuring this slogan and published on behalf of the United Nations (UN) for the World Health Organization (WHO) to publicize its Global Programme on AIDS, introduced in February 1987. WHO’s innovative strategies represented the UN’s first serious response to the emerging global health crisis. Glaser’s typographic design featuring the word “AIDS” on an eye-catching, bright-red ground is both extremely simple and extremely eloquent.
