Glaser’s 1999 poster promoting an event to celebrate undergraduate achievements at Stony Brook University in New York is dominated by the profile of a young Black female student dotted with stars against a starry sky. The image suggests the star qualities of the students who will be represented by this program and reinforces the university’s statement in the lower margin about its position as “an affirmative action equal opportunity educator and employer.” Glaser was awarded the University Medal by Stony Brook in 2005 for his countless design contributions to the university, among them the creation of its logo (in use between 1995–96 and 2012), campus signage, posters and other published materials, and a memorial arch for those lost on 9/11.
